Final at Somerset.  SCS chose to press up and play majority M2M defense today, and the Warriors made them pay.  Leek Ateny was fantastic, and other Warriors stepped up when he and Boyd were hampered with foul trouble in the 3rd quarter.

DCA will play the 16th Region champs. Three candidates from the semis - Raceland, Morgan Co., or Elliot Co.

Bad draw for them.

Final stats had Leek Ateny 22 points/5 Rebs and Lual Ayiei 18/10 Rebs.  Pretty good afternoon for the “Twin Towers”.

I always said Ellis from Mercer County was the best player in the 12th Region, after watching Ateny the last couple of weeks, I think he's the best player in the 12th.

Likewise on Ellis. But when I saw Ateny at the end of last season, I thought he had that potential. No question he’s looking really good this year.

The skill set matched with the size and athleticism “can” be next level.  Ateny is a guard in a 6”10 frame, and it appears to me he’s starting to find that motor more consistently.

It took him awhile to realize the intensity with which he needs to play.  He’s by nature a relaxed and easy going young man so he’s having to learn how to play hard.  Plus, he’s not quite got an entire year of American basketball experience.
