Johnson Central (1-1) faces Belfry (1-1) at Johnson Central after battling with George Rogers Clark and losing 35-43. JC coming off a impressive win against Pikeville the defending 1A state champions beating them 37-15 at Pikeville in the Pike County Bowl. 

Hopefully JC wins, I highly respect their program and KYHS football is better when they’re rolling.

Last week for JC is probably the biggest motivator for the team I would think in the past two years.

This game used to determine the champion of EKY. Two goliaths, both figurative and literal, brawling for mountain bragging rights. Both programs are not what they were 5-10 years ago, but this is still a must-see game for fans of old school, smashmouth football. JC and Belfry are kindred spirits that probably take comfort in the prep and execution of this game in ways that most couldn't relate to.

The Golden Eagles have a renewed confidence after beating and banging on Pikeville. On the other end of that spectrum is the Pirates, who were laid low by an incredible GRC fourth quarter rally. Belfry needs to pick itself up fast or JC might thump its second straight Pike County powerhouse. That comfort I spoke of earlier may work to Belfry's advantage.

I'm expecting a close game, with the Golden Eagles gutting it out with superior numbers and fresher legs.
