Bullitt East vs. Mercer County Predictions/Updates (8/24)

At last years Little Caesars Fort Harrod Bowl, Bullitt East defeated Wofford County and Mercer County defeated Taylor County.  The teams switch opponents as they usually do in these two year bowl contracts giving us Bullitt East taking on Mercer County in the second game of the bowl. 

Bullitt East comes into the game having followed up the 2022 6A Championship season with a respectable 9-3 season but a disappointing 2nd round loss to Ryle. 

Mercer County comes into the game following a 10-2 season that saw their best win coming in week 1 over Taylor County.  Mercer lost in the 3rd round to Louisville Central. 

Bullitt East defeated Ballard 12-5 in it's final scrimmage before the season starts and Mercer defeated Somerset 13-12 (I think) in it's final warm up.  From what I saw both teams defenses are ahead of it's offenses at this time.  I look for the Chargers to take care of business in this one but they need to clean up a LOT on the offensive side of the ball. 

Mercer D looked capable against Somerset but they struggled to move the ball.  Mercer did add a talented transfer in the off season as Danville's best offensive threat, Braidin Baughman, made the move 10 miles west to Mercer County. 

Predicting a low scoring affair, but who knows. 

I'll take the Chargers 21-7.
