Lillard Traded to the Bucks

Recommended Posts

The major pieces of the deal:

Bucks: Damian Lillard –

Blazers: Jrue Holiday, Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, 2029 first-round Bucks pick and Bucks pick swap

Suns: Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little, Keon Johnson, Grayson Allen

Lots of other smaller pieces and some picks involved.

As someone that would like to see the Suns win it all in 2024, someone talk to me about this trade and why it was good for the Suns?

The Suns add solid young depth, add a 40% 3 pt shooter, and get rid of salary cap.  Nurkic isn't as good as Ayton, but with the team they have, they need someone to do the dirty work downlow.  Nurkic is more able to do that, but he's constantly hurt.  The roster is good, not as good as Denver, but barring injury, they should be a top 2-3 seed in the West.

Bucks starting lineup looks like this:

Dame

Malik Beasley

Middleton

Freak

Brook Lopez

Having watched a lot of Beasley, he’s best suited to come off the bench. Might be the reality of the situation, though.

Not a fan of this roster from a defensive perspective. An interesting storyline will be where Jrue will end up playing. He feels destined to be on the Heat.

Nurkic has also been unplayable against certain teams. Allen has proved to be unplayable as well at points. Maybe Johnson will grow into a suitable role player?

This move was more about getting rid of Ayton than anything else. But they’ll be fine.

Yea I think the relationship in Phoenix with Ayton was toxic, just wasn't working out anymore and a move had to be made.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him have his best year yet with Portland though.  There's going to be a lot of high scoring games this year in Phoenix that's for sure.
