Final from Lincoln. 

Terrific game from both teams. Thought Boyle was allowed to be a little more physical than was Garrard; Lions had two of their top three ball handlers foul out, which allowed Boyle’s press to kick in late and secure the win. Quisenberry was excellent for Boyle as was Cooper for Garrard. Another huge night for Tarter, who had 11 and 18 for the Rebels.

I think that’s pretty spot on. The two ball handlers sat some while in foul trouble and then ended up fouling out. It kind of felt like Garrard was going to hang on until that point. They couldn’t handle Boyle’s pressure without those two in. Also, McPherson’s defense on Cooper was excellent. When he guarded Cooper, Cooper struggled to  get quality looks.

 

Refs were pretty inconsistent throughout. Stone from Boyle gets visibly drug down by his jersey with no T. Before that Cooper for Garrard throws the ball at a Boyle kid far after a foul is called. Besides the inconsistency on the whistle, a great game. Quisenberry took over the fourth. The 8th grader Guy Turner gets better every game they play. And of course, Jakei Tarter can’t be kept off the boards. 

I thought one of the games tonight would be an upset.  Danville and Garrard both came close but couldn't pull it off.

Right down to the wire on both. Toss in DCA, five teams in the 45th District that were very solid this year.

Yeah.  I think if the 12th Region tournament was a bracket of all the region teams irrespective of district that the 45th would have quite a few teams advancing out of an opening round.

I'm not a person who tends to bring foul calls into play because there are a lot of factors that influence games, but I also think Boyle got away with a lot. Cooper had two hands put on him every time he drove and was wrapped up every time he attempted to get open against Boyle's press. It seemed like as long as Quisenberry drove in the final 5 minutes there would be a foul. That wasn't the case for Cooper, he would drive and get his shoulders past a defender, they'd put two hands on him to slow him down, no whistle.

Give Boyle credit, they fought, persevered, and made some big shots down the stretch to secure the win. Quisenberry, Tarter, and Turner were huge. Myers made some really big shots for Boyle in key moments.

The championship comes down to familiar foes in a familiar situation. It'll be Lincoln vs Boyle for yet another 45th district championship.
