Which is why every team in the region should play at least once and district games should be twice, excluding All A for small schools.

Amburgey was my personal biggest name not on the list. Every game that I have watched of Oldham County he has made a huge impact in the game, and majority of these impacts are not on a KHSAA stat shee

Teams that struggle are not gonna get a player on there unless they are crushing the scoring column.  Amburgey was definitely the biggest snub.  If the Demons had a better record and had upset a good

Amburgey (Oldham), Feagan (Williamstown) both are notable omissions.  Good arguments for some others.  Seriously, though, tough year for the voters.   There's a LOT of talent in this region this year.

If a coach doesn’t face a team like Williamstown, then it could be hard to convince them to vote for a player they don’t know enough about.

I think this goes for a lot of teams. Coaches from teams like North Oldham and Woodford County haven’t played very many regional games, which makes them probably go solely off stats.
I think an all-region team honor should be based off more than just stats.
The worst part is that there’s no way to fix it, and these honors will never be close to perfect.

Teams in the 8th Region play an average of 28 games give or take.  Let’s take Eminence for example.  They could play the other 17 teams one time, then play the teams in their district one more which is 5 more games.  That’s 22 games. Then they could tentatively play in a random tournament during the season.  Then 4 more random class A teams in the state.

Teams in the 29th would have more flexibility with their schedule since there are only 3 teams and they only play once.

Simon Kenton likes to play teams in the 9th and 10th regions and Woodford County the 11th.  Those 2 might not be on board, but it’s definitely doable to play all.

The only negative of playing all regional teams is that there would be a lot of lopsided games.

The only issue you run into this is that this practically fills teams schedules. 17 games against your regional opponents, and an extra 3-4(on average) games for the second district game.

That’s already over 20 games, Christmas tournaments will make it 23-25. Then you only have a few games left to schedule.

We would miss out on a lot of big time games with the better players in the state. (CovCath and North Laurel twice a year for example).

Get rid of the dumb Christmas tournaments. You know how many parents I heard say it would have been nice to go on a family cruise or a trip to somewhere warm or wherever but they are locked in committed to these darn Christmas tournaments.

Now this here is a bad take lol. Not sure where the Christmas tournaments you’re talking about are, but some of my greatest memories from basketball have came from these tournaments. Great bonding experience for the whole team.

Oh and not to mention the June ball experience.
There is plenty time to make memories and bond. Christmas should be left for families to make memories.  But we’ve gotten off into the weeds. The point is there is definitely some players who got screwed out of an award. But boys if you’re reading this, it doesn’t take an award to measure your success.

@Deaconjim

What do you guys think?

I think Deaconjim mentioned two who should have gotten it. I’d like to know Drippens take.

That's it in a nutshell.  And not just "stats" - it's basically a leading scorer list.  7 teams had one person named, and in each case it was the leading scorer of each team.  4 teams had 2 players named, and in each case, it was the top 2 scorers on those teams.  And one team (North) had 3 players named, and in that case it was the top 3 scorers.  None of that is surprising, of course, it's just the way it is and always has been.  There's really no way to do this and make everyone happy, or even a clear majority.

That’s starting to clarify a little. So based on this, where does Feagan and Breeden fit in this scenario?

I get what you’re saying, but there isn’t another time in the year to take 3-5 days away from home in a hotel with just your team and families.

Summer ball is all voluntary, and many many kids will skip a week for a vacation with the family. The dead period was created for a reason.
