South Oldham vs Oldham County Predictions/Updates

This is always one of the most charged atmospheres in HS basketball - when Oldham meets South in the post-season.   Get to the North Oldham gym early if you want a good seat - or any seat.

If you can't make it, the game will be broadcast on Pegasus Sports.   Mike Montgomery and Todd Gilley have the call beginning right after the Oldham-North Oldham girls game.   Approximately 7:30 - 7:45ish pm ET on www.pegasussportsky.com

P.S. - If you miss the game and the live broadcast, the game is ARCHIVED on Pegasus - go to the broadcast page and scroll down to find the icon with the game you wish to watch.

KHSAA website lists both Oldham County and South Oldham gym capacity at 2,500, and North Oldham's at 2,156.  Therefore, I would arrive 13.7% earlier than if the game were held at OC or South! ? B

  • Yes

  • I wouldn't be surprised to see South steal a win.

I’ve not been to a 29th District Tournament when all 3 Oldham schools are represented in the same night. The girls’ game at 6 features OC and North, and of course OC and South are playing the boys game afterwards.  Last year, both boys and girls games had the same 2 schools, and 2 years ago was the weird Covid year so seating wasn’t an issue. In fact, looks like 2018 was the last time this happened.  Anyway, will the majority of North girls’ fans exit after the early game? Or is it risky to assume that? I plan on getting there early enough that it shouldn’t matter - but I have a couple of buddies who plan to come, and I’m trying to figure out what to tell them….Adding to the intrigue is that North has a smaller gym, of course.

Based on my experience, most of the North Oldham students will leave following the girl's game, and there will not be as many students at the girl's games on Tuesday as there will be on Friday.

I believe that they will, but it will be PACKED. I would be there before the girls game if you’re wanting a good seat.

Good deal, thx to both of you.

Just to chime in....of all the games involving Oldham schools, the boys games between Oldham County and South Oldham are ALWAYS the most heavily attended, and the crowd will start arriving early.... keep that in mind if you are coming and planning to watch the second game.

Get there early.   The place will be packed.

If you can't get a seat, enjoy the broadcast.

Since 1997-8 season, Oldham leads the series, 34-14....

31-17 OC with 3:17 to go, dominating the glass and the interior. SO only has 4 rebounds.

South is struggling to get the ball in the basket.

33-22 OC with 2:00 to go in the 2nd. Marcum for OC already has 10 rebounds, he has more than the entire SO team.

OC has gotten multiple FG attempts on almost every time down the floor they have missed a shot on

Oldham County up 35-26 at halftime. Max Green with a runner right before the buzzer. OC dominating in the paint, SO hitting a couple threes to get them back in the game.
