Height is kind of a big deal in basketball.  I can name 50 kids that would’ve been really really good/D1 if they were 6’4” but unfortunately they were 5’10” and they ended up small college or nowhere. (I could name 10 this year but I don’t wanna hurt feelings!) That’s why the kids are all exaggerating their height by 1-2”.

I watched a lot of elite NAIA basketball when my avatar was at Georgetown.

It has long been my contention that one of the main differences between elite NAIA and top-notch D-1 players is about four inches.

North Oldham looking the part of the favorite in their first two games.....a win over a great Manual team and their start on the road was a great start - and the Mustangs shot over 50% from the floor - including over 50% beyond the arc.

They shot over 60% from the floor - and again over 50% beyond the arc - in a rout of Central Hardin the next night.

Great start for the Mustangs.

Walton-Verona with a huge win over Evangel in OT.

Player with a GREAT LAST NAME (Max Montgomery) hits the game-winning three....

(No, I don't even know the young man, but he has a great last name.... LOL)

Bearcats holding the region banner high with a great out of region victory.

8th Region off to a great start.....the Region is 14-2 against out-of-region foes in November games, including North Oldham's climactic win over 7th region power Manual and Walton-Verona's big win over Louisville power Evangel.    The only losses:  Carroll County's loss to Tates Creek and Simon Kenton's loss to CovCath.

Oldham (1-2) and Woodford (0-1) surprisingly both with losing records as we start week 2, but this still should be the marquee matchup in the region tonight.   Free, live, hi-def video coverage starts at 7 pm in Buckner, KY.

Woodford fell by four to a really good Lexington Christian squad, but played without 6'9" John McCrear.

Oldham is 1-2 after playing three games decided by 5 or fewer points, including a 5 point OT win over North Hardin, followed by a 2 point road loss to Spencer County and a 5 point loss to Christian County.

Junior Max Green, as expected, leads Oldham at 24.7 ppg; he scored 31 vs. Christian Co.   Green is hitting 52% of his shots, and has 10 threes already (34.5%).

Woodford hasn't posted stats yet from their first game.
