Boyle might be able retake the #1 spot in RPI if they can beat Douglass the last week. It pays off to schedule good teams above your class.

In the short tenure of the RPI has there ever been a team finish No. 1 in the RPI rankings and had to play a road game in the playoffs?  If Boyle wins out and beats FD, I could see them jumping to No. 1 and have to play on the road in the 2nd round.

And looks to be a long road game at Boyd County.

Great question and I can't imagine it has ever happened. What could be wilder is if Boyle and Lexington Catholic end up together in the third or fourth round and the game is at Boyle, even though Catholic won the regular season matchup. Class 4A RPI is quite peculiar this season.

I'd say with the cross bracketing this year, that it is the first time.  Boyle could get to RPI #1 and travel to Ashland in week 2 of the playoffs.  Not only is it Boyle/Lex Cath but I believe also Cov Cath/Highlands.

I would like to see that if there is a head to head meeting then the winner would get home field and then use RPI if no head to head exists.

Wouldn’t shock me if they put that in after this year. But putting it in beforehand would have required foresight that I’m confident they don’t possess.
