Really close and physical match tonight in Park Hills as the Colonels of Covington Catholic defeated the #7 team in the state, the Colonels of Dixie Heights. This was a pretty evenly matched and played game. Dixie controlled the match for most of the first 20 minutes. Excellent passing and dominating possession. They were playing like a team set on a years worth of revenge over last years loss. Meanwhile, Cov Cath was playing last months soccer. After 3 games of reportedly dynamic possession and passing to create opportunities, they decided to (when they possessed the ball) to send it over the head of their Center Forward/Striker not by a little bit either. He was playing 30 yds up with 2 defenders marking him, and someone would just light the fuse like a bottle rocket on labor day. Dixie scored with a screamer of a shot in the 21st minute. Cov Cath began to slowly regain some of their composure moving into the end of the second half, attempting to move the ball down the field. In the 36th minute they finally get it into the box on the ground and as luck would have it, Dixie blatantly fouled the Cov Cath player. It was an instant call by the center ref. The senior, Mac Tereny took the PK and we're tied at 1 a piece going into half time.

The second half saw Cov Cath come out with a slightly different attitude. They seemed more relaxed. Their playing style didn't change, but they were more agressive on and off the ball. It was enough to keep Dixie from any fast break opportunities that would amount to anything. With about 7 minutes remailing, Cov Cath was able to convert inside the 12 yd box for a second goal by Mac Tereny. Emotions ran high, and a foul by Dixie in the midfield was enough to send one Dixie player over. He challenged the center ref, and after a couple of looks and a warning, was issued a Red Card with 2-3 minutes left. 

All in all it was Dixie's game to lose. And they did. Cov Cath was just the beneficiary of it.

You flatter that individual with this description.  His behavior was RIDICULOUS, and he made sure everyone in NKY knew exactly what and who he was on his way out.  Talent doesn't trump character, and he is a living and breathing example.

I absolutely agree. I wanted to be careful of how I characterized the moment. Respect for the officials, your team and especially the GAME demand better.

Without being there I can take a very, very, very, very good guess at which player made the eruption.
