He did foul out in the 4th. Robby Stenzel has his first start tonight and the 8th grader ended up with 16 points. Umm. Can you say Mr. Basketball in a couple years...

How about that out of an eigth grader.

Good game. North led up until about midway through the fourth quarter before going cold. Knowles, who was having a rough shooting game (1-9 3fg) made things happen on defense, coming up with six points, an assist and two steals during an 11-2 run that put GRC up for good.

Just got back from the game...North made it a little closer game with about 3 minutes left in the game. I'm not sure on how many points Knowles had but I know he did have a few nice passes. Xavier was there to see Knowles & there was another school there to see him but I'm not sure if it was another college or another high school coach. It seemed like the fouls were a little lopsided going in NL's favor. Jim Schue could probably give more info on that. Like I said, I'm not sure how many Knowles had but I'm sure he ended up with double digits. If so, he did it pretty quitely. All besides that dunk he had... Is GRC ranked in the state?

Preston had 7 points in the first half and ended up with 26 points. He is that type player...not a good offensive game and still gets 26.

First half NL had 3 fouls called on them. Late in the 4th quarter the fouls were NL 2 GRC 11. Rogers fouled out and Knowles had 4. Different regions call games different.

I would have never thought he had 26 in that game. Like I said earlier, he had some really good passes. He had a great attitude throughout the entire game. I think he is still one of the top players in the state. I noticed GRC had 3 guys at the end of the bench in street clothes. They looked like they were ball players. Were they injured or what???

the stats says he ahd 28 points.

Good effort by both teams. Both were very well coached, and played hard. Very even game until midway through the 4th, and GRC's defense stepped up big. IMO, the lopsided fouls were due to the different defensive styles. GRC played a much more aggressive defense, full court, to NL's half court defense.

We all know how special Knowles is, but GRC's Stenzel, the 8th grader, looked great as well. Boy does he have a bright future. In the first half Knowles mostly relied on his jump shot, but was guarded by NL's Asher, who is bigger than most that guard him - that may have impacted his shooting. He adjusted very well in the second, and started scoring off the dribble. I would bet that NL won the rebound battle, I'd say that GRC was missing their big man. NL's Anthony Trabish had an excellent night rebounding, he had to have 10+.

NL's improvement from earlier in the season is astounding. Coach Conway is doing one heck of a job (as I knew he would).

Tristian Jones, our center, is the only one out . The others must have been our managers. GRC played 11 players tonight, and have all season.

Preston was like that in the first game of the 5/3 he had 37 points, and you thought he may have 20. He is very unselfish, great court vision and loves to make great passes.

I was going by what our radio announcers said.

I've got him for 26, but there was also a bucket that I didn't catch who it went to, so that may be where 28 comes from.

Many of his second-half buckets came by way of layups after steals or just off the dribble. If you factor out his 1-for-9 on threes, he hit 12-of-16 from the field.

North led for a large portion of the game and by 1 going into the 4th quarter so I am not sure how they 'made it closer'. They were never out of this game until there was about 19 seconds or so left in the 4th. Neither team led by more than 10 points. North's improvement from the first weeks of the season is nothing short of dramatic. I heard Coach Conway say that if the younger guys on the bench can begin to step up more and give the Jags more depth, he really likes the direction his young Jags (only 2 seniors) are heading. GRC is a very talented team and Knowles really impressed me.

Speaking of Preston Knowles, he showed me tonight why he is one of the top players in the state right now. He can pass, lightning quick, has a nice stroke, good ball handler, and can leap out of the gym. He is the real deal IMHO and one of the most talented players I have seen all season. When he hit his first few outside shots he started relying on those too much then did what Boucher stated and adjusted his game, beating defenders off the dribble, making nice passes and getting key steals and finishing. He has tons of potential.

I thought that Nick Shannon, NL's young PG really played well tonight. Knowles spent a good part of the night guarding him and really tested Shannon and he came up big. Asher made some nice passes out of the double team and the Jags will be a dangerous team come tournament time, mark it down.

All in all a very exciting game from start to finish. The GRC defense in the final few minutes was the difference in this one.
