The 2022 season is already off to a bad start for the Raceland Rams. The Rams season opener was going to be big deal. The Rams was opening the season on its new turf field against rival Ashland. Those plans have now changed and the venue has been switched to Wheelersburg (OH).

The Rams have high expectations in 2022 and that is bringing home the Class 1A trophy. They basically return everyone from last season and have added a few transfers as well to help what was an already loaded team to begin with. The Rams hope to make it two in a row over the Tomcats.

Ashland comes in hoping to start the Rams season on a bad note. Ashland lost some of its fire power from last season to transfer, but Ashland has big time numbers to help with the losses. Ashland will also be trying to rebound from a ugly scrimmage last week against Lexington Catholic.

Who wins this rivalry game? Does Raceland start the season off right the way? Does Ashland spoil the Rams opener?

If Raceland is who we think they are, they should handle Ashland tomorrow night. The Tomcats are young, the Rams are seasoned. It's rare that Raceland is favored in this series, but this is one of those years. The depth advantage Ashland typically has is nonexistent.
