Beechwood 7 Owensboro Catholic 6 (8 innings) (KHSAA State Tournament First Round)

Jackson Roseborrough drives home the winning run for the Tigers to advance to the quarterfinals. This one lived up to its billing. Berger pitched well, aside from one pitch he'd like to have back. Estep was strong at the plate, going 3/4 with a double and a pair of runs driven in.

Braden Mundy drove in three for the Aces, who battled back from a three run deficit. Couldn't have asked for a better way to cap off Day 1 of the state tournament.

Great win by Beechwood!!! Owensboro Catholic fought back so hard but their 3rd pitcher just started losing it in that 8th inning. Kuddos to them for sure. Jackson Roseborrough has had some keys hits the last several games. Beechwood went deeper into their pitching than I’m sure they wanted too. Looking forward to Saturday’s game against Russell County as they for sure have more arms available as their pitcher threw a complete game today.

I would like to hear the story on Scales who pitched the last 2+ innings for the Aces. He had no pitching stats. Was that the first time he pitched this year?

Just looked at stats. He only played 5 games so he must have been injured all year. He had very good pitching stats last year so that explains why they put him out there. A tough spot to pitch for the first time all season.

He came in and did great his first inning retiring the number 2,3, and 4 batters for Beechwood. Control seemed to be an issue in his second inning of work though.
