It was competitive for a half, but Ashland opened it up in the final minutes of the 3Q. The Tomcats have now claimed four consecutive region titles.

Another great season for a strong Boyd County program. The Lions were very young this year. Definitely a team to follow in '22-'23.

I would like to send out a big congratulations to Ashland Blazer for winning the 16th region title and defeating for the 4th time this year a good Boyd County team.  I would also like to congratulate Colin Porter for earning the MVP of the tournament. In the three games he scored 47 points on 19-31(61.3%) shooting, 28 assists, 16 rebounds and only 4 turnovers. He is a true team player and always finds the best way for him to contribute to his team. Congratulations Colin Porter.

Ashland will be a tough out for anyone they face in the Sweet 16.

Ashland plays Covington Catholic Thursday evening at 8:30pm I think is the time but it’s a rematch of their regular season meeting at Ashland when Ashland won by double digits but this will be a lot different this time around and should be one of the best first round games of the Sweet 16.
