Highlands 43 Bishop Brossart 33

I know there is a thread on Jamie's huge win, so I didn't want the game thread to distract anyone from her amazing accomplishment.

Onto the game, I know Highlands is healthy and fully loaded now, but even with that said, this is a bit of a shocking result for me.  @Mustang, were you there last night?  Any HHS faithful that can provide any color around this impressive win by the Birds?

Watched this one on the @859Radio livestream* (Coach Shields game analysis ++). Some wild momentum swings in the first half and Brossart went on an 11-0 run in 2Q to make it close at the half.

Both teams struggled with turnovers and less than optimal shooting from the field (Brossart % 24/26/67 & their stats linked below).

* Downloadable game replay available includes a terrific, lengthy post game interview with Coach Richey.

Thanks for the plug!  Here's the link on 859SportRadio.com.  If I had to pin point one reason for HHS's success last night it was the matchup zone they threw at the Lady Stangs.  They still may be trying to figure it out.  Coach Shields was so good.  His grandson Abe Hils was just as impressive at halftime.  Thanks to Coach Richey for coming up after the game.  Huge congratulations to her as 400 is rare air in NKY girls coaching records.  My findings show she's only the 5th to do it behind Nell Fookes, Bill Goller, Ray Kues and Don Shields.

^^^  I too was not at the game, but did watch the replay on 859 Sports Radio.

I'm not being critical here, simply stating a fact, that this Brossart L'Stangs team is one of the most inconsistent that I have encountered over the years.  They have played some masterful games, i.e,, Ashland and the Conner loss, but have been dreadful at times, and last night was one of those times.  Highlands big girls took away our paint game, yet we continued to go in there hoping for better results.

While Molly Kramer has emerged as a steady, consistent scorer, last night no L Stang scored double-figures.  Lauren Macht and Olivia Lloyd, who we count on to put big numbers on the board were limited to five points between them.

I think Highlands is back to a point were they are a top team in the 9th Region.  They seem to finally be healthy, and have the size and guard play to be a contender.  Having returned just two starters from last year's 10th Region Champs team, we are actually probably overachieving this year to be 15-9 against the schedule we have played, and are occasionally going to throw in a clunker.  Last night, with the eyes of Northern Kentucky Girls Basketball on Fort Thomas we were victimized by both bad timing and the Highlands Bluebirds.
