December 31, 200619 yr With the Giants virtually claiming the sixth and final spot I think its safe to start the NFC playoff discussion. Bears homefield and first round bye. Saints first round bye. Seahawks, West Division winner Cowboys, East division winner if Eagles lose, if not Wild Card #1 Eagles, East Division winner if they win, if not Wild Card #1 Giants Wild Card #2. The thing I find most intriguing is the three NFC east teams. Early in the season it seemed to be a lock to get three east teams in, but that was before everything started happening in what was a crazy NFL season. However, after the smoke cleared they all three made it anyway, and much like the Steelers I look for one of them to make a serious run. The Eagles really scare me because they are playing the best football of the three right now. I don't look for the Sehawks or Bears to make it, even though the Bears have a monsterous D and homefield advantage. IMO their offense is too iffy, although they do have a Super Bowl caliber defense. The X factor in all of this has to be the Saints. Probably the best story in all of sports this year, and somehow we still can't bring ourselves to thinking they are for real. Playing good football right now, and have the best offense in the league, their defense is also very underrated. On paper they look to be the favorite to get in, but for some reason I think they'll fall short. So look for one of the three underdogs of the east to sneak their way like Pittsburg did last year.

To make it easier, the number one seed will be playing the lowest seed remaining in the second round.

December 31, 200619 yr I think Philly will win and take the 3 spot...but Id rather see Dallas there. I think the Giants have a much better shot at beating Dallas than Philly.

December 31, 200619 yr If the packers win tonight, aren't they in and Giants out??? No. The Packers are 5000-1 odds at getting in the playoffs now. They would need San Francisco, Miami, Detroit among many other teams to win. The Giants hold the strength of victory tie breaker over the Packers.
December 31, 200619 yr I think that running the ball will cause them fits against Dallas. I dont. The Giants beat the Cowboys one this year and nearly had them again the 2nd time. Penalties were a big reason the giants lost the 2nd meetign with Dallas. (not blaming the refs, blaming the Giants stupidity)
December 31, 200619 yr Right, but the Cowboys are sixth in the NFC against run, and that first game had as much to do with Bledsoe as anything, by the time Romo came in, it was too late.
