New Orleans fans have said it a few times this year.:p

I guess that is one good example.

Two observations, apart from the obvious fine performance of Rose Hill...

1) Dakota Euton displayed incredible maturity this evening, as he was mauled...and that is no overstatement. I saw him get hit three or four times, with elbows, a player coming down on his shoulders with both arms, etc...and in each case, Dakota simply continued to play, turned and hustled down the court and just played the game. What a fine kid with a great career ahead of him.

2) Don't ever wonder again, GoRadio, why people get on officials. I saw the most self-conscious ref I've ever seen this evening (while tonight's performance tops all others, he is always this way). He thought the game was about him. Every call and every antic on his part was a pose. He preened constantly.

Rather than quietly tell a kid (the most mild-mannered kid on the court) to leave the court for having his shirttail out, he grabbed the ball, stormed onto the court from behind the basket and yelled the length of the court to the player's coach to "get me another player out here..."

When the kid did return to the court and shortly thereafter go to the free throw line, the ref followed him down the court, stood at the foul line and lectured him on why he had to keep his shirt in. Not once did he call out the opposing players for constantly grabbing the kid's shirt and pulling it out of his shorts. The ref sent the player out of the game 3 times during the course of the game because of his shirttail. He was singularly responsible for agitating both the player and the fans for his obvious obsession with one kid's shirttail.

What threw me was even after an official made a call against West Carter for pulling Jackson's jersey, Mr. Obsessive continued to target him over this issue.

Like I said I personally sit in the stands and watched two of the better players in the 16th region play most if not all of the game with their jerseys untucked.

I love refs that take over the game. Where do they find these guys?

I think they found the aforementioned official staring at himself in the mirror for 3 hours.

I will have to say that what himmelfarb wrote is not an overstatement. I really have never witnessed anything like it but the player has to adjust and make sure his shirt tail is tucked in. I can assure you that measures will be taken to make sure it doesn't continue to happen.

Kudos to WSAZ TV 3 out of Huntington, West Virginia for doing a nice sports feature on their 11 news broadcast about the David Garnes Memorial Tournament with highlights of tonight's game. :thumb:

Is Rose Hill going to go with wrestling uniforms for their players? :D

I'm not sure exactly which ref you're referring to, but I know the type.

The real question is: did the sports anchor have his shirt tucked in? :D

Yes, including mask. At forward from parts unknown..............................

Spandex jerseys may help. Duck tape? Needle and thread? Safety pins?

With the continued tugging on this player's jersey tonight, the only thing that would have worked would have been a one-piece basketball uniform.

In regard to the player's jersey being tucked, a good look at his jersey after the game revealed that the stitching and trim all around the arm openings has been pulled loose. These are new jerseys with only four or five games play on them.

The player in question is and will be one of the most difficult players for 16th Region opponents to guard. The preferred tactic seems to be grabbing a handful of his jersey and hanging on, because no one's feet are quick enough to stay with him otherwise.

As it is, two players fouled out trying to guard him tonight. :thumb:

He is quite a "handful" to guard. Of jersey that is ...

I couldn't tell, he was behind an anchor desk...
