Good points cville. This earlier post was the first I heard of a charge call. Was a call made? If not, there was no charge. If so and the ball leaves the shooters hand before contact - the points are good I believe, if not set - as you said - points good, shooter at the line for the win. Not sure on what happened and it is in the past now anyway. Great job by the Lady Rams vs. some good competition in this tournament. "If" the Lady Rams stay focused and "keep their eye on the prize" so to speak they will be fine. GO RAMBLERETTES!!!!

Correction to bold: In high school, if an airborne shooter releases the ball and runs over or through an opposing player and a charge(player control foul) is called, the shot does not count. THIS IS A PLAYER CONTROL FOUL!

However, if the shooter comes back to the floor after the shot was taken and then runs into the defense, a charge/push can be called, with the points awarded. THIS IS A CHARGE AND NOT A PLAYER CONTROL FOUL!

Another poster said that the defense had to have their feet set...NOT SO...

This was changed a few years back.

The defense can be moving...For instance...if a defensive player is back peddling and in legal gaurding position and the offensive player kicks it in to a higher speed and runs through the defense or drops a shoulder in order to dis-lodge a defensive player...this is also a player control foul if the offensive player has the ball in their control.

Hope this helps.;)

Thanks for the update. I don't recall the changes. You may be correct on the defensive player backpeddling but I don't think that a defensive player can just step in front of an offensive player without being set. If the defensive player initiates the contact and the result of the contact disrupts the shot, it seems to me it would be a foul. The back peddling scenario you demonstrated shows the contact being made by the offensive player thus it would be a charge. It appears to me that it is two different situations.

I am glad that the Lady Rams made it home safely. I am glad the bus driver was competent. I wish the Lady Rams continued success on the hardwood and I hope that Ramland has a Happy New Year.

I am not sure of the rules/rules changes, but no call of any sort was made in this case.

...Report that I got said after looking at the film the shot went in before the buzzer...

It would be great to see a video clip of that shot posted somewhere.

:thumb: I agree but then again it is in the past now, The "Ramblerettes" need to and will move on.;)

:thumb: So then if NO CALL was made then it goes back to if the shot left the shooters hands before the buzzer and reports from BOTH sides said that it did.

i was reading some of the threads and if i am allowed to ask without getting into trouble, whats up with the bus driver comments? Is it a joke of did something happen. Just curious.

No harm intended. A little jab at a good friend.
