OU is still a very solid club, and UC just had a flat performance. OU has a lot of experience, and they kept the lead at about 8 points for most of the game. The game was in Cleveland, and the atmosphere was dead...

Things not going as planned this year for Cronin. Hopefully the Cincy faithful can give him some breathing room the next few years for him to build a winning program. I believe he is a very capable coach, and without pressure should be able to bring a lot of success to the bearcat nation.

I'd disagree. I think things are going exactly as fans expected for UC. Long season in front of them with some occasional bright spots.

How is it not going as planned? This team was put together in 6 weeks, and they are not that bad. If you thought the plan was a big season and the NCAA tournament as a UC fan that knew the deal, you need your head checked...

The talent is still there for UC somewhat, and I think they are talented enough to make the tournament. Like you and cshs aluded to, there have been some bright spots, but like tonight disapointments as well. All I was saying was that UC like any other traditionally above average team is expected to make it into the tournament, and I'm sure Cronin was aware of this and had it on his agenda, however set backs like tonight will not help get in. I don't need my head checked because like I said I think Cronin can build a very good program at UC, all he needs is time. I didn't mean they were underachieving this year because I personally know you can't build a squad in one year, much less what little time he had to do it in. All I was saying by the not going as planned part was I'm sure Cronin, like every other coach in the NCAA has making it into the tournament on his agenda, and with tough loses like tonight with the talent he has left puts kinks in his plans of.....making it into the tournament. Like said, any reasonable college basketball fan knows and understands that if UC were to make it this year then Cronin should be considered for COY, but im sure his plans were to make it and would be disapointed if he didn't....it's just a coaches mentality, thats why I said things arent going as planned. Notice I didn't say going as planned for the players, fans, administration, etc. I said Cronin. I wasn't trying to rip but rather state I think he is the man Cinci needs for the job. So why jump to conclusions when you take things I say out of context?

Cronin has said many times what he expects from this team, and I've never heard him mention the Tournament as a goal. As he said in the post game interview tonight... "We've been competitive this year not because of our talent, not because of our experience and not because of our depth. Because we have none of the three at a Big East level. We've been competitive because of our defensive effort on the floor." They didn't play their game today, and they lost. The margin is thin, and Mick knows it. Next time I get the chance to interview him, I'll ask him about his NCAA expectations. Should be a fun reply...

Chances are he will tell you what you want to hear, but in the back of his mind you know the hope or want is still there. If not then he doesn;t need to be coaching in the NCAA, because like said that is a goal of every coach somewhere in their mind whether they will admit to it, achieve it, make it, or not.

I did go overboard with that, but I don't feel that with the team they have they should be talked about as being so poor.

They are 9-4 with unknown jUCos, a prep school FROSH, a TE and a Katrina charity case. They beat X, NC State, Miami (OH) and Temple and gave up a game to UAB who looked pretty solid today. They played crap D against an experienced team and couldn't make the run needed to close it to a 5 point game down the stretch. If Mick is thinking of the tournament, he's not saying it to anyone I know. And I know a lot of people...

Does any of the UC fans think they will make the big tourney or NIT either one this season ?
