Sivori also had arguably the most talent around him.

Beechwood and Belfry played crazy difficult schedules for the size of schools they are, let’s just say I bet Hergott and Dixon would love to have the compliment of weapons and the line that St X had so they didn’t have entire defenses geared at them every week.

Great players are great players and all you can do is ask “did they perform against high level competition?” And the answer for all three is a resounding “yes”.

As stated earlier, all players mentioned have a case but Jagger Gillis played QB and LB at a very high level. How many QB's in this thread also lined up and LB the entire football game? There isn't a throw this kid can't make and as a starter at Boyle is 2 for 2 in state championships. The title of the award is "Mr. Football," and Jagger isn't just a QB, he's an overall football player.

Isaac Dixon is not a QB, but his impact at DB, PR, and KR are pretty massive as well. He also did selflessly play QB for Belfry at the start of the season when they did not have an option ready yet.

Ask East Carter about his impact on the other side of the ball.

Arguably his two biggest plays in that game was a key Interception and a solo tackle in open space on 4th Down in the redzone that both basically ended all EC's momentum.

If Football had a stat like WAR is to baseball, Dixon would be the clearcut leader in it. If you replace Dixon with his replacement Belfry goes from a State Champion to finishing 4-8. 

 

 

I am sure Beechwood fans would point out that Hergott also contributed in more ways than QB, and both St. X fans and Beechwood fans would insist their QB's were more than just the equivalent of one player with how they ran and threw the ball. Also Hergott raises Gillis' 2 for 2 in Championship games and says how about 3 for 3?
