The annual rival game for Carter County bragging rights. West has won the last several meetings, but East leads the all-time series as it does in most if not all sports. I think East will win this years game based on a common opponent this year (Rowan Co.)

Over the past ten years West Carter had beat East Carter 7 out of 10 by an average of 28 points per game. The three wins for East Carter were decided by an average of 3.6 points per game. West Carter has 13 seniors on the roster this year which is not typical for the Comets, they have played and won a lot of games. I'll take the Comet seniors in this Battle for the Barrell.

A county divided, I bet this is a good rivalry. Can't escape the other team fans if Lose since work and live with them.

And East Carter has 14 seniors. See you Friday.

As a neutral observer, the 'Battle for the Barrel' is a fun rivalry to follow each year. This year the barrel in question looks totally up for grabs. East is off to a good start this season, but West has been the much better program of late.

East leads the all-time series 30-20. They've met every year since the schools opened in 1973.

I'm just going to pretend this dig was intentional, even if it wasn't, lol. You can take the Raider out of Grayson, but you can't take Grayson out of the Raider.

I was being kinda of nice I'm actually pretty sure it is in all sports (even girls basketball) but wasn't 100% sure. I really am not like a lot of other Raider fans who always root for anybody playing West. If they are not playing East Carter I do want them to do well they are from Carter Co. However, when they take on the Raiders I'm for East all the way!

I agree with this 100%! I actually have several good friends with boys in that team.  I hope they go 9-1 every year. I was a pulling for them as much as anyone last year when they were making their run at state. Nothing better than Carter Co football. This will be a good game Friday. Hope to see a huge crowd at the field.
