Danville 6 Beechwood 4 (Semi-State Playoff)

Recommended Posts

A very sloppy game played by both teams. An error here, and error there were really the determining factors to this game. Was impressed with how well Beechwood hit off of Howe. Although they didn’t have many hits today, they hit the ball hard right at the Danville defense. Sometimes that’s just the day your team can have. Best of luck to Danville going forward!

I can't remember which Beechwood player hit it, maybe in the sixth inning. The shot to third that Baxter jumped in the air to catch might have been the difference in a win and loss. That ball was smoked and Baxter just made a terrific play.

Want to say it was Estep, or Berger. Yes ball was a missile and he made a great play. Runner on second too. Would’ve most certainly been enough to score at least one.

Beechwood literally threw it away.

But Beechwood pitchers throttled the best the Admirals had to offer. No Danville HRs, and only one shot came close.

Yes, and no. Two of Beechwood's runs were unearned also, so Danville made mistakes too.

The Tigers also got out hit 9-4. Six of Danville's hits were doubles. When all is said and done, Danville was the better team. Tough first round draw for the Tigers. They just may have played the future state champs in round one.

Was a sloppy game by both teams with a couple unearned runs by both teams which were from pretty easy routine plays. Nerves were definitely present from the beginning it looked like. In saying that I think Danville had 5-6 doubles and a long fly out that may have been out at most HS fields while Beechwood probably had 3-4 balls that would of been. Do believe that was 2 of the best remaining 16 teams after seeing other games yesterday. Think they are both in the top half easily of that 16.
