Dunbar's Mario Paul smokes the 300m hurdles state record by over a second. He threw down one of the ten best times in the country today.

Yeah, he is amazing hurdler!

What went wrong for Armon Tucker in the boys 100m? He went from a season best and Trinity record 10.69 to 12.24 today.

He’s been injured this season so maybe aggravated it during run.

It's gotta be tough to end your season like that when you know you're capable of so much more. A healthy Tucker is certainly a favorite in this event next year.

Yes, he will definitely be favorite next year.

• Wyatt Stewart (Madison Central '23) set the all-class Kentucky record* with a 16'-1" effort in the Pole Vault. Congrats Wyatt!

Stewart passed on seven heights before starting his day at 14'-6". He cleared the new record height on his first attempt. Stewart then took aim at breaking his PR, but missed all three attempts at 16'-8.75".

The Madison Central sophomore is currently the US No. 2 ranked vaulter in the 2023 class. His 16'-7" effort earlier this spring ranks No.14 in the nation.

* [Chip Heuser's (St. Xavier) all-class record of 16'-0" had stood since 2003.]

The oldest Class AAA records on the books date back to 1985. Both are also Kentucky all-class records.

Long Jump - 24'-0.5" William White, Shelby Co.

4x400m Relay - 3:16.78 Eastern (Victor Shacklette, Chris Taylor, Troy Dickey, Joey Taylor)

ICYMI ~ At the girls meet, some of the state's better basketball players were scoring points on the track too. Among them:

Amiya Jenkins - Anderson Co.

Wanda Stevenson and Destiny Jones - Central

Josie Gilvin and Trinity Ralston - Sacred Heart

Sophie Galloway - Marshall Co.

? In the Shot Put, Manual's Malachi Lawrence  became just the eighth 60'+ performer ever, in any classification, in State Championship meet history. The Crimsons senior also earned four points with his  5th place PR 148'-9" in the Discus Throw.

* Congratulations Malachi! *

This fall keep an eye out for the "2020 All BluegrassPreps.com" Defensive End playing at the University of Central Florida.

Class AAA Shot Put State meet - 60'+ all-time ~

1. Bryan Hudson (Scott Co. '19), 63'-9.5" - 2018

2. Joe Tronzo (St. Xavier '05), 63'-4.5" - 2005

3. Malachi Lawrence (Manual '21), 61'-6" - 2021, • KY #1 and US #28 performance in the SP for the season.

Great young man! He was at most of the meets we hosted and I’m glad to see him get a PR at state. Good luck to him at UCF!
