Franklin County getting some upgrades.

Featured Replies

Franklin County has worked hard on fundraising to make some major upgrades to their facilities. Turf last year, and the weight room this year, track and surrounding areas in the next year. Hope this excitement continues to grow! Kids looked strong at the liftathon today!

It looks amazing!  The team and staff have worked their tails off and have earned the upgrades.  Keep grinding Flyers!

Franklin County is going to quite literally snuff out the other schools, particularly Frankfort, if the city school system does not invest in the Frankfort program.

If you live in Frankfort and your kid is playing football, why would you not want to send them to Franklin County?

Thanks for the kind words.  I got some FC gear for you anytime you need it!

What I see from FCHS is they go above and beyond for their kids off the field. That staff makes sure each kid has the support they need to flourish.

FCHS has tried to give the kids the best for years, but the community, school have finally offered to match some of their efforts making for some great strides!

I’m not turning in my orange and blue for the blue and gold just yet, but I’ll keep that in mind! ?

I think the staff(s) at Frankfort do all they can to support the players, but I’m not sure it goes beyond that. I understand a lot of it at FC comes from fundraising, but the school board clearly also bought in. FIS needs to step it up when it comes to supporting the football program, IMO.

I wasn't taking shots at the Frankfort staff. However I'd invite you to call Coach James, and come see the FCHS staff, in action.... you will see what I am talking about its different. This Super, and the board in place now, really value athletics.  Western Hills also has a new weight room, turf, and several upgrades in track and other sports going on as well.

Right. Even if we only look at the fields... Frankfort Admin can’t expect to remain competitive when they are the only school in town that doesn’t have turf. The facilities at Sower Field are an embarrassment.

Money is very cheap these days. If they can't upgrade the turf now, will they ever be able to?

Unless some donor or Alumni comes up with the biggest portion of it, I don't ever see them funding it to be honest. Maybe the upgrades at FCHS and WHHS will be the kick in the pants they've needed, but I don't see it.

Looks like they don’t want turf! 0B86C488-9D13-4D07-A3A4-66B476ADF279.thumb.jpeg.7c47dacc30dc4c04f5bba7a7c05680d1.jpeg

I agree that grass CAN be a great surface, looks like they are taking the steps to maximize the field they have.

Zero chance they don't actually want turf. They don't want to be the only school in town without it, regardless of what they post on social media.

Thought the same! Taking shots at the county schools! Gotta love the rivalry.
