Vernon Gibson is the new head football coach at Shawnee.

Gibson, a standout offensive tackle at Louisville Central, was named 2nd Team All-State in 1995 and attended WKU on a football scholarship.

He spent several years coaching in Louisville on the middle school level before moving up to coaching high school at Pleasure Ridge Park and Butler.

This guy deserves props for taking over this struggling program. I think if I were him I wouldn’t worry about the travel time and I would schedule schools wherever to find games that they could be competitive.

Think for the most part they are in a competitive district. Hopefully he can provide some stability to the program
