Mason County 76 Perry County Central 44

There are 5 teams that can win the 14th. There is one team that may be able to win a game at Rupp. Just an opinion and based on what has happened the last couple of days the top 2 are distancing themselves from the other 3.

If you play a slow down game with JBS they will beat you. You can't compare the two schools(JBS/Perry) because of the types of games they were with Mason. Two totally different games. JBS backed in a zone which is their game, and Mason was very cold from the 3 pt line, probably haven't shot any worse this season, not taking anything away from JBS they played them great and had a chance to win in the end. Perry made the mistake of running with them and it hurt, Perry did play as bad as they could play too. Some of you are writing off Perry and making a mistake. Yes Hazard beat them, with the help of 7 3's and 30 pts from Hicks, which won't happen every night (how many did Hicks get against Holmes on Saturday on there loss?) and if you play into JBS hands by not running there big men, that is a mistake too, Coach Holland knows his basketball and he will definitely have all the selfishness that Perry is playing with out of them come tournament time and he will definitely have them ready to play. I still think this is a 3 team region, but Powell is making a showing and could be moving up to make it a 4 team race.

Master Of The Hardwood,

It sounds like in order for June Buchanan to win against good competition they have to control the tempo, make it a half-court game, and play zone defense.

However, teams like LexCath will press all night and try to force the tempo. My question is, can JBS handle a bigtime press? They didn't do very well against Scott County this summer, and they play a similar style to Lexcath.

Can Stepp 'step up' to the task?

Hicks had 28 against Holmes I believe.

I agree that it is way to early to be counting anyone out in the 14th Region.

Come tournament time, no one will want to play Coach Holland and PCC.

It cracks me up that most of these teams have played 6 or 7 games and some people are already boasting who is what! There is a lot of basketball yet to be played!!

I think if they control the tempo they can beat anyone. Stepp and Cox are great guards and can handle the pressure and are getting better with it. Scott did give them some problems, but I think getting older and having more experience against a good pressing team will pay off in the long run. Stepp and Cox are the top twosome in the region and they can handle the rock without making many turnovers. Will be hard to beat come tournament time.

JBS beat 5 teams that were the Lexington Herald preseason top 25 this summer. They went 22-3 this summer playing mostly 4a schools. Their only losses were to Scott CO (2 times) once by 7 and once by alot, and also to a West Virginia State Champion School in a close one.: You will probably watch them play soon in the All A State Tourney where I think they have a good shot to win the whole thing.IMO

Uk96 that was in the summer get over it. IF officials of KY thought they were that good they would be in the top rankings. I wouldnt worry to much from my history at rupp I havent known the your region to make much noise. Professor you take a top 5 team in state and a unranked team in the state playing each other and that equals = OVERLOOKED THE TEAM (simple enough)

I would think that would be an insult to your coach to say he wasnt prepared for a team that won 25 games last year and brought everybody back....

No its not an insult its called High school kids. Time will tell come March at rupp when the Mason Co Schools buses return once again while JBS watches from the upper arena:banana:

I believe the insult came in when JBS allowed Mason to get down the floor and get the ball to Setty with about what 3 sec left to Bust the 3 to seal the game. Excellent teams always finds a way to win. GO ROYALS:ylsuper:

Mason County probably will win their region and I will watch them from the upper arena(closer to the bathrooms and concession stands) and I do hope JBS does make it there so all 62 kids in the school get some days off from school.
