Calvary Christian 59 Augusta 50

Final

A bit of a shocker here.

With Dugan and Moran lost to graduation, I thought that the cupboard might be somewhat bare in Independence.   This is a more than competitive Augusta team, so I have to consider this a major 10th Region "A" upset.  Cougars run out to a 15-0 lead to start the game and never look back.

The prize behind Door Number Two however, is Robertson County on Tuesday..

This one surprised me as well.

Panthers fell behind 15-0 to start this one but came all the way back and tied the game in the 3rd at 29 and even took a couple of brief leads but the Cougars were very steady and shot the ball extremely well. On the bright side, Panther guard Kason Hinson hit a layup with 1.6 seconds to go in the 2nd to give him 1,001 points in his career. Much appreciation to Calvary Christian for announcing it not once but a second time as Kason took the ball to his mother in the bleachers.

Panthers are back in action on Monday at home vs. Fairview for a varsity only game at 6:30.

Q:

Thanks for sharing the Kason Hinson 1,000 Points info.  Congratulations to him and best of luck moving forward to the Panthers.
