Red hot Braves try to circle the wagons against E'town

Elizabethtown defeated Bardstown in the regular season and trailed in the fourth quarter of the district championship rematch. Sound familiar? Trailing the Tigers by two touchdowns in the final frame, it looked like deja vu for E'town in Round 2. Unlike a year ago, this group of Panthers was able to find the resolve necessary to dig out of that hole and advance. Clay Games and Kam Sherrard connected for three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to pull ahead of Bardstown for an exhilarating 35-28 win.

Union County has answered an 0-4 start to the season with a five game win streak bookended by wins over Paducah Tilghman. A challenging early season schedule is paying dividends, aiding the Braves in their deepest playoff penetration since 2008. Their success in the last several weeks has been spearheaded by Corithian Seales-Portee, perhaps the best 3A running back you've never heard of.

How many union county wrestlers play football?

E-Town is certainly the favorite, but Union is capable of giving them a game.

Union is stout on both sides of the ball. Seales-Portee at running back is what makes their team click, but they also a couple other guys who can make you pay.

If I'm E-Town, I'm coming out throwing the ball all over the place. Union is tough to run on when healthy. I've noticed they struggle in the secondary and teams have not taken advantage for some reason.

If E-Town throws it 25-30 plus times, I think they win by 20+. If they mix it up and make it ugly, Union will play it closer.

Union is a severely undervalued team because of their 0-4 start.

In hindsight that was four pretty solid teams who beat them in four very competitive games.

I still think Etown outclasses them, but I think Union County gives them a run for their money in what on paper and the RPI saying should be one of the more lopsided playoff games.

I'll take Etown by 14.

E-Town is very beatable, but a hallmark of their game is mouthing and getting under your skin.  Expect a lot of Union County penalties. I'll take E-Town by a couple TD's.

With not much passing game to speak of for Union, that should be enough points to secure the win.

I agree, it looks like Etown is moving on.
