No Jackson City even in these rankings, I think that these rankings just go to show how wide open this region is after Hazard and JBS.....

why isn't Jackson in your top 10?

I think they rely completely on Davidson. A top 10 team consists of a more balanced attack.

:thumb: sounds reasonable

Most of the others in the top 10 rely on maybe 2 guys, and you think that is a balanced attack. High school basketball rarely has more than 2 guys that do the bulk of the scoring, and to say that Jackson is not allowed in the top 10 because they rely to much on Davidson is not a valid argument in high school basketball. Hazard relies on one person and they are probably #1 or 2 in the region, if Hicks don't get 30 against PCC they didn't have a chance to win. Davidson getting 25 to 30 a game puts them at a legit top 10 team in this region.

I think Hazard is still a top 10 team even if Hicks doesn't get 25-30 a night and so is PCC if Bailey doesn't get 25-30, but im not convinced that Jackson can win without Davidson performing every night.

I don't think they rely completely on Davidson as you think. Granted he is probably their best player and the most underrated player in the region, but I'm pretty sure that their center Zach Lusk and their other guard, Michael Watkins have contributed a lot as well. Every time I see Jackson's stat line in the paper, Lusk and Watkins usually have about 13-16 points a piece. Davidson scoring a lot does help their chances of winning, but he doesn't have to dominate in order for Jackson to get a W.

Anyway, my top ten would be:

1. Hazard

2. JBS

3. Lee Co.

4. PCC

5. Jackson City

6. Powell

7. Breathitt Co.

8. Letcher Central

9. Estill

10. Cordia

Davidson only scored 13, but we still should of won this one. Disappointing loss for the Tigers at home.

After last night, I would think that JBS would be the favorite. But, PCC gets their shot at Mason tonight.

1. JBS - Solid Team, the only in Region team they have beat was LCC, by 7

2. Hazard - Beat a good PCC team by 9.

3. PCC -Always Solid, but seem to be somewhat down.Dangerous on any night

4. Powell - Have been playing very good. Beat Lee by 8. Tough with Romans.

5. LCC - Beat a very good Lee co. Bobcat team by 11.

6. Lee - Should be higher, but have lost some key in region games. Watch out

7. Jackson City - Lost alot last year, but seem to be playing extremely well.

7. Estill - Showing leadership. Estill is scrappy, dangerous when the 3 is falling.

8. Leslie - Have a good 2-man guard combination, not much inside.

9. Cordia - Led by Zach Hurt. Not a huge inside presence or much outside.

10. KCC - Just as scrappy as any team in the region on any given night.

1. June Buchanan. Their game last night against Mason has convinced me. Also state AAU runner up last summer.

2. Hazard. Probably the quickest team in the region. When Hicks is on, look out.

3. Perry Central. Though they lost to Hazard at home, still dangerous.

4. Powell Co. With Romans back they're a different team. Beat Lee recently.

5. Lee Co. Not much difference in Powell and Lee. Lee will probably get them in Beattyville. Districts on a neutral court at Owsley.

6. Estill Co. Could be the best 3 point shooting team in the region. Interior size is a problem, though.

7. Breathitt Co. Played Hazard to a 2 point game. A young team, will get better as the season progresses and will be rated higher next year. Smith has improved vastly since last year.

8. Leslie Co. Good shooting team, but lack of a big man hurts them.

9. Knott Central. Quick team, good defensively. Stamper makes them go.

10.Jackson City. Solid team. Davidson is one of the region's best.

I would have put Letcher Central in the top 10, but their starting point guard, Banks, is out indefinitely with an injured foot, and they will miss him.

I don't see a whole lot of difference between Buckhorn, Cordia, and Jackson City, but someone has to be # 10.
