Frederick Douglass travels to Georgetown on Friday night for a 5A district 6 game against Great Crossing. Douglass is coming off a dominating performance over 2A power and fellow city team Lexington Christian. This now makes the Broncos 19-0  versus the other public and private schools in the city since the schools inception. The Broncos are this season by junior quarterback Samuel Cornett, who after his 3 interception game against North Hardin to start the season has now thrown for 554 yards with 12 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Darius Neal leads the Broncos in rushing with 447 yards on only 60 carries for almost 7.5 yards per carry. Douglass also has one of the best wide receiving duos in the state in Dekel Crowdus and Dane Key the two have combined for over 450 yards and 10 touchdowns in 4 games. The Douglass defense has held up its end as well as they have only allowing 11.5 points per game.

Great Crossing comes into the game after picking up their first win of the season 44-8 last week over Montgomery Co.  It was also the first win at the school for the Warhawks new coach Ricky Bowling. The Warhawks are lead by quarterback Jake Broughton and running back Tyris Cobbins. Great Crossing seems to be improved from last years inaugural season last year. This will be the third time the Warhawks and Broncos have played with the Broncos holding a 2-0 advantage with both scores being 50-0. This is will be a very tough game for the young Warhawks team to deal with the Broncos speed and athleticism.

Just saw on KHSAA website that this game has been cancelled due to covid.

My understanding from the email from the KHSAA unless Scott Co is in the red this goes as a forfeit. The game won’t be made up I’m sure. 

Great Crossing now going to play Western Hills on 10/16.
