The Bishop Brossart Mustangs come into Thomas More University and soundly defeat the Covington Holy Cross Indians 35-7 to get their first win of the year.  The star of the game was Mustang QB Jacob Leicht who was a part of all five touchdowns (four on the ground and one in the air).  A bright spot for the Indians was the 57 yard TD run by RB Lavarr Jones at the beginning of the third quarter.

Bishop Brossart (1-2) travels to Nicholas County next Friday night, while Covington Holy Cross (1-2) travels to Lexington to take on Sayre.

 

Progress for the Mustangs tonight at TMU.

While the Holy Cross Indians played without the services of four seniors, including Brandon McClendon, our Mustangs appeared much more poised tonight.  Jacob Leicht was in command throughout, and the team drew few penalties, while putting several lengthy drives together, culminated by four Leicht touchdown runs and a touchdown pass to David Govan.  Andrew Schwartz was perfect on PATs, knocking home five of five of them. . 

The Indians still possessed plenty of athleticism, but the Mustangs showed marked improvement in stopping the big play, and could be rounding into form.

The Mustangs open district play next Friday night in Carlisle, taking on Nicholas County, who handed Ludlow a solid loss earlier tonight.
