Colonels_Wear_Blue
Newport Independent School District's board of education is reportedly having a special meeting tonight at 6:00pm to decide how to proceed with fall sports. I don't have confirmation on that, but regardless, the 3 most recent board meetings have all streamed online at THIS YouTube account.

All parents present were given a 5-question survey to fill out regarding fall sports. Superintendent Watts will be a part of a Zoom conference with other area superintendents tomorrow, after which he'll announce his decision about fall sports. Here's the survey parents were asked to fill out:

I was told by a couple of people who were present at the meeting that the wording was "by Monday" but that the indication was that superintendent Tony Watts was hoping to have his decision announced by end of day today. This is pretty ridiculous, regardless. Talk about a jerk move, considering the fact that the KHSAA and the KDE have already given the go-ahead for fall sports. A superintendent waiting until 4 days before the first football game to announce that they'e not going to let the football team play...that just comes off as unnecessarily cruel.

Dr. Watts pushed his decision back until today. Two days until their first football game is supposed to take place. Two days...and he is yet to make up his mind. Football is a go.
