Wolfe County 73 Perry County Central 58 (14th Region)

Final in the 14th regional quarterfinals from Knott County Central.

Wolfe County guards sophomore Sawyer Thompson with 23 points and junior Jaz Johnson with 22.

I believe Wolfe County returns all their players for next season.

First region tournament game victory for Wolfe since 2014. They've been to the region finals twice, losing in 1969 and 2001. I'd love to see them make it to Rupp.

Only the second time in school history Perry Central has lost in the first round, the other being a 56-51 loss to Knott Central in 2014. They've played in all but three regional tournaments since opening in 1995-96.

Wolfe returns all their starters for next year except for Hunter Brewer and all their production from the bench.

What a great win for the Wolves, I am glad I decided to go watch the first round of 14th regional tourney, 2 great games with Knott getting by Estil by 1 point. Wolfe County was just the better team, Jaz Johnson and Thompson shot the lights out for Wolfe. DeAndree Reed guarded Johnson all night but couldnt keep him from scoring. Wolfe County has a lot of players that can step up, the PG Tolson had the big game and game winner in the district championship, and Wolfe's bench played a key role as well. Congrats to the Wolves, should be a great semifinal game vs. Knott on Sunday.
