Absolutely a tremendous game to watch. Too bad one of these two had to "go home."

 

Seth Johnson for South (33 points) and Rico Carr-Cole for North (29 points) both put on a show.

 

Fouls an issue for both teams, but especially North, who lost all-region center (10 points / 10 rebounds) with 3:50 to play, and both Dallas Roberts (#2 scorer on team) and Thomas Ashton in the final minute. Jason King fouled out for South...

 

North shot well (55%), but had difficulty protecting the paint against the South Oldham drives all night.

 

Both teams shot a lot of free throws, but made exactly the same (North 23 of 28; South 23 of 30).

 

North had the ball with a chance to tie and force OT, but couldn't knock down three shots. The second of the three - a three point attempt from Carr-Cole - just rimmed out.

 

Largest lead of the game came in the first half...North by 10. Neither team really ever threatened to take over the contest, though.

 

South moves into the finals to face Oldham County. The Dragons will be defending their 29th district title.

 

North Oldham (16-14) sees their year come to a close, but the Mustangs return 3-4 starters, including Dallas Roberts (FR, a two-year starter, 13+ ppg), Rico Carr-Cole (12+ ppg), PG Thomas Ashton (JR), and frequent starter Ian Higdon (6'4" FR), plus several key reserves.

My thoughts exactly. IMO if he plays like he did against Male in the KOB North Oldham not only advances to region, not only advance to Rupp, but make a run for a state title. Again, every team can say "what if" at some point but sure would have been nice to see him out there. Especially since he came back home for his senior year.
