Greenup County started this game on a 10-2 run then Ashland closed the gap and led at halftime. The second half was all Ashland. Ashland freshman Colin Porter was an assist or two away from a triple double.

I really thought Greenup could give Ashland some problems - and they did for a half, or so - but the Tomcats showed again that they are the class of the 16th Region. They can stretch a lead on you so fast it leaves your head spinning.

The Ashland radio crew had him with more assists. But I won't argue it, great game for a freshman.

When Ashland is hitting on all cylinders they're gonna be hard to beat. Greenup County would be about 10 points better than they have been this season if they would focus on playing Dryden down low more often on offense.

Kid is a beast down low, leads the state in rebounds I believe, yet he spends a lot of time on offense out around the three point line and he doesn't appear to be a good three point shooter. It leaves me baffled, but I'm not a coach.

I would agree with that and add that he has a tendency to take possessions off, at least in the times I've seen him, which is admittedly a small sample size. If utilized correctly while giving max effort game in and game out, he'd be more than anyone in the 16th could handle.

Just going on appearance alone, he's not a kid that's going to strike fear into the heart of Ashland's opponents, but he plays with a level of skill, poise, and basketball IQ beyond his years. He's fun to watch running Ashland's offense.

He is fun to watch. One of those kids that creates a stat line that leaves you questioning where all those numbers came from. His court vision and passing ability that comes with that is what makes him the player he is. But when he racks up 14 rebounds or so it makes you scratch your head as to how that happened, given his size. Much better shooter than he gets credit for as well, he just doesn't rely on that. I'm curious how the netflix documentary on him turns out.
