Congrats to the Tomcats. The KHSAA RPI system is a joke.

Congratulations to Ashland.

Hats off to Ashland. They played a great football game. They were sharp out of the gate like Russell was a few weeks ago. But unlike the Tomcats in Week 9, Russell wasn't able to complete the comeback. They made a game of it early in the 3rd quarter, but couldn't close the gap completely. Two big differences between tonight and October 18th: The Red Devils failed to dictate the line of scrimmage and Keontae Pittman delivered the type of game Ashland fans are used to seeing from him. Having that kind of speed is such a luxury.

This was a productive season for Russell football. They swept the county by a score of 83-0, hung tough with a strong Ironton squad, and closed the gap some on Ashland. Another off-season like the one they had prior to this year, and they should be right in the thick of it all in 2020. It was fun following the maturation of players like Malakai, Isaac, Frank, Ethan, and Josh, to name a few. They've come a long way since they were freshmen, and they won't be forgotten. They may have fallen short of the ultimate goal, but they've laid a few bricks in the house of Russell football. Be proud of what you accomplished, because the RDN definitely is.

Yep.

Ashland: Hey, we just beat Russell twice for the district championship! What's next?

KHSAA: Congratulations, but you're still rated below them in the RPI and you have a date with Belfry next week at their place.

Its stupid. Ashland is getting punished for playing four out of state teams that would be top teams in Kentuckys 3a. But it is what it is.
