Different team and mood this year. First night game coming up, Fields has a chance to introduce himself to the CFB landscape, if he’s up for the task. His first “big” road game with a lot of viewers, hope he can handle the stage. I tend to think so.

He is absolutely amazing. However, OSU had a qb who was setting OSU records last year and was a 1st round QB and still got curb stomped by a bad team. The year before had a 3 year starter who also set records at OSU and still got curb stomped. So while I agree Fields is a stud and quite honestly fits better in this system than he would have at Georgia. Having a stud qb hasn't stopped OSU from getting curb stomped by bad teams the last 2 years. If they can avoid that, then they really have a great chance even with one lost to make the playoffs as long as they win the Big 10.

The Iowa game still makes zero sense, but last year was pretty obvious that the defense was atrocious and gave up way too many big plays and a loss like Purdue was almost inevitable. Even in the early season cupcake schedule we were giving up a ton of points and big plays. This team is 100% different. Can’t even remotely compare this team to last year at all.

This year, we have a defense that can play. People are starting to take notice of it. Last few years, it was very suspect. Even us Buckeye fans are like, “well, this is different.” Guess we will find out a little more this weekend, with the first hostile environment if we should buy or sell on it.

Having a bad week and losing a close game to a team in conference you shouldn't lose to can happen. Getting curb stomped by bad teams two years in a row usually never happens to top 10 teams. There is no way any OSU fan could have thought at any point the last two years that not only would they lose to a bad team but also get completely destroyed by that bad team. That's my point in no way even the last two years could you all have seen a beat down coming, maybe you all could have seen a possible lost but no way a beat down like they had twice. This year again it doesnt look like there is anyway that could happen, but no one could have saw beat down city coming the last 2 years either. So if they can avoid that, they will be in great shape for the playoffs.

We saw how bad this D was a few times last year, heck we barely beat this Nebraska team and Maryland ran it up on us.

This year is different and that’s what’s stopped us from making a run.
