I saw that the junior high Thoroughbreds put a pretty solid beat down on the Tigers tonight.

I'm curious to hear what participation and numbers look like for the Beechwood junior high team. Are the Spartans still fielding a team in the senior division to compete for players on their roster with Beechwood? Do the high school Tigers have any junior high students playing up this year?

There is no Senior division in the NKYFL and there hasn’t been for several years. And more than a few teams (including the Spartans I think) had stopped fielding a senior team spirit to the league shutting it down.

 

Beechwood typically has a few middle school kids that play up at the freshman level every year. They had a really good middle school team 2 years ago, and got hit hard by injuries last year. They usually have around 30-35 kids each year playing middle school ball.

Beechwood had around 30+ kids and NCC had around 17-18.

 

This game was hard to watch. To say NCC beat them bad would be putting it lightly. It was 41-0 and the game was called in the 3 qtr I believe(left in the 3rd). I may have missed one but I didn't see a first down until the 3rd qtr for Beechwood.

 

Observations: NCC's RB is a STUD. Runs hard, fast and angry. Bad news for the Breds, they said he is going to HHS for high school. Also #12 was a tall kid that caught the ball well and ran the ball well too. #18 was a freak just throwing people around and was in on just about every tackle at MLB (More bad news, they said he is going to Ryle next year). The QB played well but he's not a QB IMO, he looked more like a baseball player playing QB. They had a couple other good kids too that could play(sorry I can't recall there numbers)

 

NCC has a heck of a 8th grade team but I'm not sure it will project to the high school level with all of that talent leaving for other schools.

This NCC team is really good. They beat one Of Highlands 8th grade teams 44-28 and had 2 TD called back and a scoop and score whistled dead it could have easily been 60-28. They beat Campbell County A team 33-0. Sharp middle 42-6 and Beechwood 41-0. Even if they lose a couple players I think this group has a great shot at a couple State titles. They have good players all over the field and in 1A 5 or 6 good players can take you a long way.
