I’ve visited 13 of the 20 in my adult life.

 

For the most part, larger cities are as safe or as dangerous as you make them.

 

Stay in the busy areas of the city and get inside at a reasonable hour and you’ll be fine.

Once I had a license, I was advised to spend as little time “in the city” as possible. The city being Baltimore.
