May 29, 20197 yr A rather complex convective evolution is expected across the Ohio Valley region today with multiple rounds of storms expected in some areas. These storms could become strong to severe. Damaging winds, cloud to ground lightning will be the main hazards. There is also a threat of tornadoes. The first map is from the HRRR Ohio Valley simulated radar. It is from 9 am to 2 pm EDT. It shows the multiple rounds during the first period. The first round starts in southern Indiana then increases in coverage as it moves southeastward into Kentucky. At the very end of the run, you can see a second round that moves from Illinois through Indiana and reaches the Cincinnati/NKY area around 1 pm EDT. The second map is from 3 pm to 9 pm EDT. It shows the initial round of storms fading out then around 9 pm EDT another round start in southeast Missouri then move eastward towards western Kentucky. This could be a multiple day event because most of Kentucky is in a Category 2 Marginal Risk Area for storms on Thursday. Check back for updates. I will also update through our Twitter page.
