...More Rounds of Heavy Rain...

.A warm front will bring widespread rain to the region late

tonight and Saturday. A cold front will then bring strong to

severe storms Saturday evening. Renewed flooding will be possible

as these rains move across saturated ground.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH

LATE SATURDAY NIGHT...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Most of central Kentucky.

* Late this evening through Saturday evening

* Widespread rains late tonight and Saturday morning, followed by

storms Saturday evening, moving over wet ground may lead to

local flooding.

* Expect flooding in poor drainage areas and near small streams.

Larger streams that are already high or in flood may rise

further. Flooding may occur quickly, especially in the expected

storms Saturday evening.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead

to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

...More Heavy Rain Inbound for the Start of the Weekend...

.A strong area of low pressure will bring multiple rounds of

moderate to heavy rainfall to eastern Kentucky Friday night

through Saturday night. The initial rounds of heavy rain will be

associated with a warm front as it slowly moves from south to

north across the area Friday night and Saturday. Another round of

rain will hit the area Saturday night, when a cold front crosses

eastern Kentucky. This rain will be falling on already saturated

ground, so the threat for flooding will be heightened along with

the threat for rock and mudslides. There is also a good chance

for thunderstorms Saturday night. These storms will be capable of

producing locally heavy rainfall adding to flash flooding

concerns.

...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY EVENING

THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of east central Kentucky, northeast Kentucky, south

central Kentucky, and southeast Kentucky, including the

following areas, in east central Kentucky, Bath, Elliott,

Estill, Fleming, Menifee, Montgomery, Powell, and Rowan. In

northeast Kentucky, Johnson and Martin. In south central

Kentucky, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, and

Whitley. In southeast Kentucky, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd,

Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin,

Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe.

* From Friday evening through Sunday morning

* Moderate to heavy rainfall Friday night and Saturday, along

with thunderstorms Saturday night, moving over already

saturated ground, could lead to localized flooding or flash

flooding.

* With rivers, creeks, and streams already running high, and the

ground already saturated from recent heavy rains, the

anticipated rainfall Friday night through Saturday night will

lead to an enhanced risk of flooding or flash flooding across

eastern Kentucky. Rock and mudslides will also be a hazard with

any heavy rain.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead

to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action

should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Southeast Kentucky is already saturated.

As the movie said, “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”
