December 18, 20187 yr I saw it in 3D and was very impressed. With such limited footage available today, this helped paint the picture for us. Well done. Side note - modern dentistry has come a long way in the previous 100 years. :lol2: To be fair, they were British...so you know...
December 20, 20187 yr I almost thought the 30 minutes with Peter Jackson after the credits was more interesting. Amazing all the things they did for this. I wonder if the film might not be more impressive if the 30 minutes was shown before the movie. Maybe not the full 30 minutes, but maybe 10 key minutes? I thought it was just OK, and could have used more "storyline" to hold it together and keep engaged. Maybe my technical and other expectations were too high.
February 15, 20197 yr I watched this tonight as it is currently showing in Evansville for several days. It was really good. It's not like I was naive to the horrors of war, but this certainly painted the picture of what living in a trench would have been like. I cannot imagine having to endure that. My great grandfather was in France. He died before I was old enough to take an interest in history, but it is my understanding that he never spoke one word to anybody about his time there anyways. The process of making this film was painstaking and it is evident that Peter Jackson had a passion for this project.
