BluegrassPreps Class 4A Football Rankings - Discussion (9/29)

Class 4A

Perhaps no team in the State ended their season on a higher note than Johnson Central. The top team polished off rivals Ashland and Belfry in successive weeks and will now wear the target as 4A's top team as the playoffs begin.Knox Central targeted a statement win against Corbin, but the Panthers came up short despite putting in an effort that still raised eyebrows. Scott rallied to finish the season on a strong note despite losing the three-way tiebreaker for their district. The Eagles will now host Greenup County in perhaps the best first round match-up. Logan County will be on upset alert, hosting Warren East as well.

1. Johnson Central vs. Bourbon County

2. Franklin-Simpson vs. Calloway County

3. Ashland vs. Holmes

4. Franklin County vs. Russell County

5. Knox Central vs. Collins

6. Wayne County vs. North Oldham

7. Madisonville-North Hopkins vs. Warren Central

8. Moore vs. West Jessamine

9. Logan County vs. Allen County-Scottsville

10. Taylor County vs. Western

Logan is hosting Allen County.

Warren East is hosting Hopkinsville.

Some locals think ACS will give Logan a run. I'm not one of that particular thought.

No? I can't say for certain. ACS looked at their absolute worst against Franklin-Simpson but other than that, they've been a solid team. Logan County remains an enigma to me. This will be my first chance to see them in person during this run, and I'm looking forward to it. I will say that ACS really disappointed in the postseason last year, so it is certainly possible they could do it again.

It is difficult to judge a team like Logan Co. Their best opponent on the schedule was Madisonville. A loss. Their next best opponent was Hopkinsville. The Tigers would win against every Logan opponent except Madisonville.

Logan did run roughshod over all opponents except Madisonville and Hopkinsville. One has to say that Logan, Madisonville, and Hoptown are all on equal footing. The combined scores of Logan v. Hoptown/Madisonville? 27-27.

ACS played four teams that combined for 33 wins. FS, Glasgow, Grayson, Pulaski.

They beat Grayson, played Glasgow tougher than most, and had a shot at beating Pulaski.

A win over Logan would not be a shocker. The Cougars should not overlook ACS in their zeal to get at Franklin-Simpson.

I can assure you guys we are not over looking Allen County. Very good football team that is well coached. As far as other games go you can compare how you what to, but everyone has a clean slate now.

Good luck coach! Hopefully we can get that long awaited FS-LC matchup we thought we were gonna get last season.
