South Warren will be a thorn in Bowling Green's side as long as Brandon Smith is the coach. Brandon can flat out coach.

I genuinely have no idea about the pipelines at this point for those two. The current class is the last one that I watched when I was following the middle school level more closely. Does South have that strong a pipeline that BG is expected to not be able to get over on them? Are the line troubles expected to continue indefinitely? That's why South has been able to do what they have been doing. Bowling Green's line is not the force it once was and South has this one guy going to Notre Dame that people have heard of. Is that expected to continue?

 

Timely transfers have helped a lot. I would be very curious where South would be this year and last without Spurrier. I'm confident that they wouldn't be as pass oriented. It looks like Cade Veltkamp is their QB of the future. His father was hired as the strength and conditioning coach this year at WKU. What are they looking at if Sanford gets (justifiably) fired and Veltkamp is at another program next year? I have a high amount of faith in the South Warren program, but it is still quite difficult for me to envision them for now and always ahead of Bowling Green. Competitive, that's not difficult to envision at all. I'm certain there will be back and forth struggles between the teams. But I don't see a time where South does to Bowling Green what Bowling Green has done to area teams for forever.

Lacey and Spurrier are major difference makers. The Spartans would still be very good without them, but not the force that they are. In the FS game, the Wildcats could not run at all on South Warren until the second half. I heard that the SW starters were not playing the second half of that game, and I’m not familiar with the whole roster, but honestly the only defensive starter I noticed being out was Lacey. FS moved the ball and scored without him in there. He will be hard if not impossible to replace. Spurrier makes plays a lot of high school QBs don’t make. I am also interested to see if they can sustain their success, but it’s hard to see them being this good next season. Bowling Green is still the top program in this area, but it’s nice to see another team make a serious push for that distinction.

I’m just going by what my South guy is telling me. He’s been dead on about everything else so far.
