Western-E'Town game moved

Featured Replies

Didnt know if anyone saw this or even cares...but the Western-Elizabethtown game has been moved to Iroquois High School friday night. Western states that their field is an "unplayable condition".

Which leads one to wonder...is Iroquois' field any better?

Although Iroquois didnt play at home last week....so I guess it wouldnt be as torn up as others.

I guess since Iroquois didnt make the playoffs, its a good way to get some money out of the playoffs, though Im sure they wont get any gate money but probably keep the concession.

GET THE HOT CHOCOLATE READY!!!!

Is this move to help Western or Etown? I think some funny stuff is going on?:madman:

Are your serious. 'Funny Stuff' going on by moving the game to a neutral site so both teams can have a decent field to play on???? Yeh; some real tricky stuff going on there. What a ridiculous statement imo. :irked:

Look at it from this stand point. Western has speed that can't be matched by most teams in the state, especially Etown. Now, is the poor field conditions an advantage for Western or Etown. If I am not mistaken, Western loss in pityful playing conditions.

I bet if you asked Etown, they would say leave it at Western. How ridiculus is that? You think about!:thumb:

The home team has the responsibility to provide the facilities. If Western feels the field conditions are better somewhere else, so be it, they earned the right to make that call by earning a higher seed.

Point well taken but i don't see that as being 'funny stuff'. If you know anything about E-town you know they are throwing the ball very well and a good field will play to their favor in that aspect. But, i don't think anyone has a right to play on a bad field so they can slow down the other teams speed. IF anything teams should have a right to demand a good field to play regardless of who they are. There aren't many games strategies that include finding a mud hole to play in so a team can win. Yet. I must admit i have heard the stories of people watering down their home field to slow down a fast team that was coming to visit. But in this case the home team has the option of securing another site due to field conditions. Also, you are right Western did lose in pitiful conditions last friday night but other teams including Washington County were able to win in those conditions. It wasn't the speed factor for Western last week it was the problem of holding on to the ball. I think you bring a valid question. I only question using a phrase like 'funny stuff' or whatever it was. It sounds like someone is cheating. I can only assume you didn't mean that but that is how it sounds.

Western 35-27.

I think that SAFETY and not STRATEGY is the reason this game has been moved...

Garrard County played DeSales at Iroquois last season in the first round of the playoffs and the field/facilities were very nice. Its kind of a dark place, but not a bad place to watch a game. Should make for a nice game.

I think one should also remember that Iroquois replaced their grass this year. They put down bermuda grass which has made the field a lot nicer to play on and if it is dry, it makes for a pretty fast track.

As I recall, DeSales usually played their home games on Iroquois' field until last season (2005) but after Iroquois put down the new grass, they came back for the 2006 season.

If the field is dry and not sloppy, I think the advantage tends to go towards the team with the better speed. But its the playoffs, so YOU NEVER KNOW!

Is Western the only team that has to play on this field? Seems to me like both do. So like you say, its the playoffs, they both have to adjust.

to my knowledge, Western-E'Town is the only game being played on this field. IF Western wins, dont know if they will use it again or just wait until their field dries up
