September 10, 20188 yr Who is your top 5 at this point in the season? I’m trying to gear this based on what we’ve actually seen not what we expect.
September 10, 20188 yr Author 1. Oklahoma 2. Georgia 3. Alabama 4. Ohio State 5. Clemson Alabama and Ohio State just haven’t faced great competition yet. Oklahoma hasn’t played great teams either, but they aren’t missing a beat on offense and that defense is for real. I’m still not sold on Clemson being able to score against great defenses with Kelly Bryant as the starter. Georgia has the best win of any of the top 5 teams so far and that’s why they are number 2 on my list right now. Even though I would probably have them at 5 on my list if I was projecting.

I'm curious as to why you think Bama at 3. I have issues with Bama as well, but i'm curious as to why you have them there. You're giving too much credence to Oklahoma. They've played two home games against UCLA and FAU. BTW UCLA managed to lose to Cincy. Clemson's win at Texas A&M is the best win of the year so far. You don't really know how hard it is to go into that stadium and win a game like that. Other than the Oklahoma number 1, I don't necessarily disagree with the rest of the list; just curious as to how you came up with it
September 10, 20188 yr Author Oklahoma doesn't have a good defense, they have a great defense and the best offensive mind in college football. With regards to Clemson, I agree its hard to go in to Kyle Field and get a win. It is one of if not the best home field advantage in college football. I don't think its the best win of the year though. Clemson never impressed me in that game. Based on the eye test the 3 best teams I've seen are Oklahoma, Alabama, and Ohio State. The way I'm ranking these teams is based on who I think wins on a neutral field right now. Right now, I think Oklahoma beats anyone.

Nah, Buckeyes, Bama, Georgia, and Clemson would spank Oklahoma on a neutral field. You get a Baker Mayfield every ten to fifteen years. Murray has played two comfortable home games, and they just lost their starting RB for the year. Physicality and speed from the 4 teams I named would beat Oklahoma. 1. Clemson 2. Bama 3. Bucks 4. Georgia 5. Auburn

September 11, 20188 yr Author Projecting to the playoff, Clemson may have to go undefeated to make the playoff. As it sits right now, Clemson does not have a ranked opponent on its schedule. A 1 loss Clemson would not have a better resume than a 1 loss champ from any other conference or a 1 loss non champ from the SEC or Big 10. A lot was made of Bamas schedule before the season, but no one talked about Clemson’s. Now Bamas schedule looks pretty solid and Clemson’s look REALLY weak.
