K-9 Officer Leaves Dog in Cruiser for 8 Hours, Keeps Job

Featured Replies

It was in South Carolina Carolina in July. He had the car running but turned off his heat alarm. He went into a school for active shooter training and didn't come back to check on the dog until the end of the day, not even to let it go to the bathroom. He only received a 5 day suspension and had his ability to handle dogs and work on the bomb squad stripped. We will not be fired or charged.

Columbia police dog died after being left in vehicle for eight hours - News - Gaston Gazette - Gastonia, NC

Why would he have the dog to start with if he was in training all day.

Could a mod please remove the "with no AC" from the thread title? I copied it from Facebook and nowhere in the story does it say that he didn't have the AC turned on. I don't want it to sound worse than it was.

The story headline states 8 hours but the first paragraph says he left the dog in the car for 6 hours. Also, it says he left the AC on but had the windows down.

Why would he have the dog to start with if he was in training all day.

Did you read the article? I'd assume not since your asking this question.
