I watch my fair share of hunting videos on YouTube and stuff, and it seems like every channel has their own hit list with unique nicknames that they give their target bucks.

 

Anyways, I’m using trail cameras for the first time this year, which has put another *huge* wrinkle of excitement to the season. There’s a big 8 and 10 point hitting my minerals pretty regularly this summer. They’ve come with such a frequency to where I won’t just be harvesting any old buck this year if I should get so lucky as to get a shot. I’ve always kind of felt naming something you intend to kill as being difficult, but if I had to say, for the first time ever, I have a hit list.

I too have named a few bucks over the past several years due to my game surveillance... it’s kinda of fun ... always have 3 or 4 bucks that I kinda have on a list from season to season ... the last five seasons I have taken bucks with my bow that I had on camera at one time or another that year ...

I’ve got 2 that should either present a shot, they’re down. I haven’t named em because I’m not witty enough to make a name for em. However, there’s a 9 I’ve wanted for this will be the 3rd year and he’s still hanging around. And the other has a really awkward rack.

It’s definitely exciting, and it makes me want to put additional cameras in other corners of the property. In the past, the property has dealt with some theft, so I’m a little hesitant.

 

Also, I’m not sure how long they’ll last, but I got a camera from Walmart, wildlife innovations brand, for only 40 bucks. I’m not sure how long it will last, but it’s been great. Way exceeding my expectations.

 

I also bought the two year warrenty on it for 3 bucks. From where I’m sitting, I couldn’t be happier with it.

You’re gonna get a lot of enjoyment from taking pics because you’re gonna see a lot of diffeeent animals in general but you’ll see a bunch of deer you never knew existed. Not to mention they make for good discussion.

Nice looking deer! I wasn’t sure how I’d like having cameras but the first time i checked, I saw this one. Had a few pics on different occasions but never saw him again. This was from August of 16.

He never came back around. I’ve got 2 farms around that don’t hunt. So it’s sort of a safe haven. No pressure. Been some good ones on my farm that I hunt though.
