July 31, 20188 yr He doesn’t have the team control of Archer but Guasman is very talented and still pretty young. The pirates overpaid imo. Any idea what the Braves gave up to get him? Gausman still has 2 years of team control after this year. They gave up several prospects... In exchange for Gausman and O’Day, the Orioles received four prospects — right-hander Evan Phillips, infielder Jean Carlos Encarnación, catcher Brett Cumberland and left-hander Bruce Zimmermann — and international signing bonus slot money. LINK Encarnacion was the highest prospect they gave up. He was apparently their 14th ranked prospect. Cumberland was the next highest (30th).
August 1, 20188 yr I am just a casual fan, and don't know all of the intricacies of the business side of baseball, BUT what I do know is that the only two Reds I would pay to go see play are Billy Hamilton and Scooter Gennett. Dealing guys who put asses in seats seems like bad business to me. We are several years into this re-build (Sellout) and still in last place, ten games under .500. Personally, I don't think trading Billy or Scooter changes that a lot right now. I wouldn't trade Scooter either but I'm tired of waiting around for Billy to learn how to bunt and hit the ball on the ground. Heck he's not really stealing bases at the same rate anymore. About all he can do is play defense otherwise he wouldn't be batting 9th.
August 1, 20188 yr With Blake Snell on the disabled list Tampa Bay now has zero starting pitchers on their depth chart. Zero.
