In 3A, #1 Highlands and #2 CovCath played in the first round of the playoffs that year, a 13 - 7 Highlands win.

Here are the scores from the state championship games:

4A: Christian County 10 - Louisville Southern 3

3A: Highlands 6 - Franklin-Simpson 0

2A: Corbin 18 - Glasgow 6

1A: Paris 35 - Cumberland 6

Corbin got hot at the end of that year after a brutal schedule. They had lost to Danville earlier in the year but the Ads were in AAA at the time and were defeated by Franklin County by 1 if memory serves.

Boyle upsetting Somerset cleared the way for the Hounds and Glasgow upsetting Fr Campbell was no doubt a help as well.

Knew it was '81 or '82. Steve Tweddell had a couple of real strong teams at Madisonville that both went 8-3...leading up to the 1983 team that was 10-0 in the regular season.

:lol2: a few of them!

Key factor in single A Tompkinsville is ranked 9th. In 1982 Tompkinsville lost to Paris in Semi finals.

In 1985 Tompkinsville and Gamaliel consolidated to form Monroe County.
